Null

Key facts

  • Submit the application electronically through the SLRB registration service with the original title deed, the original notarised sale contract and, for non-Bahrainis, a passport copy.
  • The registration fee is 1.7% of the property value if submitted within 60 days of the contract notarisation and 2% after 60 days, plus BHD 1 for the registration form.
  • The notarised contract cannot be submitted more than one year after its notarisation.
  • Registration takes 1 working day on the eGovernment page (3 working days on the SLRB page).
  • Some areas need prior approval: the Urban Renewal Committee for Muharraq, Qalali, Budaiya, Al-Jasarah, Khalifa Town and Zallaq; the Land Registration Director General for Qudaibiya and Al-Hoora; and the Royal Court for Riffa.
  • Governing rules are Law No. 13 of 2013 (Property Registration Law) and Decision No. 10 of 2016.

Steps

  1. Obtain a Real Estate License — Buyers need to apply for a real estate license through the Ministry of Economy. This is a prerequisite for purchasing property.
  2. Property Valuation — A valuation of the property is required to determine the value for tax purposes. This can be conducted by a certified appraiser.
  3. Register with the Ministry of Economy — Once the transaction is complete, buyers must register the property with the Ministry of Economy to obtain an ownership certificate.
