Key facts

  • Applicants must show proof that work can be done remotely and a contract or employer letter with a foreign-registered company or foreign clients.
  • They must prove legal income, with bank statements for the three months before applying (PBGB asks for documents showing the size, regularity and sources of income over six months), plus valid health insurance and a state fee receipt.
  • The long-term visa is valid up to 12 months for single or multiple stays; a decision comes within 30 days of processing the application.
  • It can be applied for at an Estonian embassy or consulate, or at a PBGB service point if already legally in Estonia; applications cannot be lodged in certain countries such as Russia and Belarus.
  • The Foreign Ministry fee table lists 132 euros a day (3,960 euros a month) for the teleworking visa line, but the sources reviewed state no confirmed minimum income figure, so check with the embassy.
