Malaysia — Banking: Credit History

Malaysia's credit system has two layers: CCRIS (Central Credit Reference Information System), the underlying factual credit ledger maintained by Bank Negara Malaysia's Credit Bureau, and CTOS, a private bureau that interprets and scores CCRIS data alongside public records. The CTOS Score ranges 300-850 — most banks prefer 697+ (Good to Excellent), licensed money lenders accept 580+, and below 580 is considered poor with likely rejection from banks. BNM provides one free CCRIS report per day via the eCCRIS portal; CTOS offers a free basic score, with a full CTOS Score Report costing RM25-35. Checking your own report is a soft inquiry and does not affect your score.
