Residency
Netherlands — Residency: Permanent Residency
A Dutch permanent residence permit needs five consecutive years of valid residence, BRP registration and the A2 integration exam or an exemption.
Key facts
- At least five consecutive years of valid Dutch residence are needed, and only years from age 8 count.
- Your main residence must be in the Netherlands throughout the period.
- You must be registered in the BRP (population register).
- You must pass the A2 integration exam or be exempt; fees were not confirmed here, so see the IND fee tables.
Steps
- Step 1: Gather required documents — Applicants must submit a complete application package, which includes a valid residence permit, proof of income, and documentation of their length of stay in the Netherlands.
- Step 2: Submit application to UWV — The application is submitted to the Uitvoeringsorganisatie Werk en Inkomen (UWV) for processing.
