Key facts
- The applicant must receive a lifetime pension from a foreign government, international body or private company of not less than B/.1,000 a month (or its foreign-currency equivalent).
- If the applicant bought property in Panama for more than B/.100,000, the minimum pension drops to B/.750; spouses can combine pensions to reach B/.1,000.
- Each dependant requires additional solvency of B/.250 a month, shown by extra pension or a local bank reference.
- The permit is indefinite and needs no renewal; dependent children get a temporary permit until age 25 if they study full-time.
- Pensions from a private company also need a letter from a foreign pension or trust administrator, proof the company exists and is in good standing, and a payment receipt or bank statement.
