Residency

Poland — Residency: Retirement Visa

Poland has no dedicated retirement visa; a retiree applies for a general residence permit, and since 27 April 2026 that application is made only online through the MOS portal.

Key facts

  • Since 27 April 2026, applications for temporary residence, permanent residence and long-term EU resident permits can only be submitted electronically through the MOS portal (mos.cudzoziemcy.gov.pl); paper applications not received by 27 April 2026 are left unprocessed.
  • No appointment is needed to submit, and MOS access is free of charge.
  • Costs are a stamp duty of PLN 340 to 640 depending on the permit type, plus PLN 100 for the residence card.
  • Log in through login.gov.pl and sign the application with a Trusted Profile, qualified electronic signature or personal signature; you need a new MOS account even if you had one before.
  • Attach a digital photo, scans of all pages of your travel document and proof of payment of the stamp duty and card fee.
  • The voivode may ask you to appear in person for fingerprints and a specimen signature; submit well before your legal stay ends.
  • Employer, school or traineeship-organiser signatures are only needed for work, study and traineeship permits, not for a retiree.
