Portugal's residence visa for remote work (digital nomads), under article 88(1) of the Immigration law, requires proof of average monthly income over the last three months equal to at least four times the guaranteed minimum monthly wage, which with the 2026 minimum wage of €920 is about €3,680 a month, and proof of tax residence. Independent workers show a company contract, a services contract or documents showing services provided to one or more clients. The residence visa is valid for two entries and four months, during which the holder must apply to AIMA for a residence permit. Checklists issued before 2026 used the 2025 minimum wage of €870, so check the consulate's current checklist.
