UAE — Living: Climate

The UAE has an arid desert climate with two main seasons (winter, summer) separated by short transitional periods — mild, pleasant winters and very hot, humid summers. Per the NCM, El Niño is intensifying the 2026 summer, with early heat spikes above 44°C and elevated humidity; inland areas see extended stretches of 45°C+ readings, with temperatures reaching 47-48°C, elevated overnight lows limiting recovery, and humidity spikes that push the perceived temperature well above the official figure. Extreme heat/humidity results from the UAE's subtropical desert location, the Indian Monsoon Low's westward influence, and the warm Arabian Gulf waters providing abundant moisture; despite the heat, the air itself remains dry, and northwesterly winds bring in dry desert air that limits cloud formation and keeps rainfall minimal.
